HABITAT is pleased to announce its upcoming solo exhibition of the artist Cui Yunfeng – “Light and Space” which will open on October 22. The exhibition will showcase the works of space series created by the artist in the past two years. In this series of works, Cui Yunfeng returns to the most basic elements, and in the way of painting, the reconstruction of visual space and the transformation of current visual experience are established through the association, opposition and integration between color, light and structure.
In the eyes of the artist, visual experience is divided into two aspects: one is the self-consciousness of one’s personal experience, which is systematically built within the scope of self-setting. The second is the infinity of visual sources in the public domain. The multiple interlacing of these two aspects in the dimension of time and space continuously forms a kind of visual superposition, like a sense of landscape of multiple visual spaces. The space series strengthens the sense of landscape while establishing a different spatial relationship, which is both the landscape of space and the space of landscape. Landscape becomes a visual construction. It produces a subtle visual illusion in perception and connection, and overlaps into a fusion state between certainty and uncertainty.
