Born in 1982 in Shenyang, Liaoning. After graduated from Mural Painting Department, Central Academy of Fine Art in 2006, Zhao Yiqian has been engaged in painting, installation and other artistic creation in Beijing for many years. He currently lives and works in Shanghai. Based on old black and white photographs from the 1960s and 1970s, Zhao Yiqian’s work blends scenes from history with elements from real life, as well as imagination and dreams, to form a minimalist neoclassical style. Zhao Yiqian was awarded the third Terna Award for Contemporary Art, in Rome, Italy in 2011. His works have been shown in many domestic and international exhibitions, including Leo Gallery, Hong Kong, International Contemporary Art Fair, LKIF Gallery, Seoul, and his works have been collected by institutions and collectors in China, Australia, Switzerland and many others.
